I was sitting here, trying to figure out why you needed someone who specialized in trees that leaned left...and how that was determined...

Hire a tree cutter based on his ability to cut trees and don't ask what his politics are. When tribal politics reaches the point that we won't even hire tradesman unless they vote the way we want them to this political tribal war has reached epically stupid proportions.

You want to do business with people of the same political tribe. Epic stupidity. Politics has nothing to do with cutting down trees.

Do you interview the surgeon before he cuts on you to be sure he is a Democrat?

is all this "tribal" talk. Are you trying to discuss ideology? Where in my post did I say any of the silly shit you're saying that I said?

So you're telling me that if you've got bids from two tree cutters, both licensed and insured, all other things being roughly equal, one is a fellow DU'er and the other still has his "bush/cheney" sticker on truck wearing a teabagger tee shirt, you're telling me in that instance you'd have to flip a coin, right?

epic stupidity is using words you don't understand like "tribe" because you heard it somewhere and don't know where to use it. Epic stupidity is talking in absolutes all the time and putting words in people's mouths so you can start arguments for nothing.

...but if you are an independent, are you happy with the idea that half of your market will turn down your services because of your political ideaology? Not because the other guy is better than you, not because his price is better, not because his equipment is better, but because he "has the right beliefs."

You didn't say that you had two bidders who were equal in all respects. You were actively seeking a tree cutter whose politics agreed with yours because by your own statement you wanted to give the business to a like minded person. You weren't in a position of "the deciding factor was his liberal position." You were looking to find a person of that liberal position.

You probably call yourself a liberal, but that is small minded, narrow thinking that amounts to tribalism. Look up the word in the dictionary.

Sense on more levels than I have time to address . You are still reading between the lines, adding shit that isn't there, making bogus assumptions, etc. Read my original post and think.

patronize businesses that lean left. A few years ago there were two main coffee shops in town. One owned by righties who drove Hummers and had Faux Nooz on, the other, owned by lefties and did a lot of community involvement stuff. Guess where I had all my meetings.

I even have my cell phone through Credo, who supports leftie causes.

We have an annual fundraising dinner here ("we" being the local Democratic party). You can be sure that I do my best to support those businesses who are generous to our cause and donate items to our silent auction.

Do you take issue with this? If so, perhaps you are in the wrong place friend.

We sub contract that type of work but I can ask my boss about the people we send business to.

My boss is also my friend of over 30 years and is nearly as far left as I am. If you want you can PM me and give me a day or two to get back to you.
