Attorney General accuses Bay City-based Outdoor Adventures of 'unlawful business practices'

BAY CITY, MI – The Michigan Attorney General’s Office has issued a Notice of Intended Action Outdoor Adventures, based in downtown Bay City.

The notice outlines “serious concerns with the company’s aggressive and misleading sales tactics,” the AG’s Office said in a press release issued Friday, Aug. 9. Outdoor Adventures, headquartered at 800 Washington Ave., has an “opportunity to immediately cease and desist from engaging in unlawful business practices” before the AG’s Office files a lawsuit against the company, the notice states.

The company operates campgrounds in Davison, Grand Haven, Kalamazoo, Mount Pleasant, Omer, Standish, Sterling, West Branch, and one in Wapakoneta, Ohio.

The AG’s Office said it has received nearly 30 complaints against Outdoor Adventures since 2016, the 10 most recent having been filed in 2019. The Better Business Bureau shared additional complaints against the company. As a result, the Attorney General’s Corporate Oversight Division began investigating the company’s sales tactics and cancellation policies, reviewing the documentation, and seeking notarized affidavits from consumers.
