I posted this on another thread but wanted to have it here also:
Due to the passage of the statewide ballot proposal 18-3, all eligible and registered voters in Michigan may now request an absentee voter ballot without providing a reason.
Every registered voter can be put on a Permanent Absentee Voter list at their respective clerk's offices. You know longer have to be a senior citizen or have an excuse for why you want to vote absentee.
I have always been a proponent of allowing everyone to vote in the privacy of their home. Some people are too intimidated by the process and lines if they have to vote at a precinct. This was another result of the big blue wave in 2018.

(989 posts)You can take advantage of them two weeks before the election right up to the actual voting day.
You can also register to vote on the day of the election.

(16,331 posts)I never had a problem with getting to the polling place either, but once I was eligible to vote absentee I loved it. I'm the type of person that if I thought I was taking too much time in the booth and there were lots of people waiting, I would want to hurry it up so they could have their turn. This way I can sit at my dining room table when I'm rested and relaxed.
I think there are a lot of people who have busy lives with full time jobs, kids, dinner to make, etc. that will appreciate this once they try it.
