(17,252 posts)A missing Okemos woman's mother said she is "stunned" that a search Friday in Livingston County yielded no results, but she has faith the cold-case team will find her daughter.
Ardis Wait Renkoski, whose daughter Paige Renkoski was last seen along Interstate 96 near the Fowlerville exit in 1990, said the family was prepared for something to happen Friday as investigators with the Livingston County Sheriff's Department, FBI officials and Michigan State University anthropologists searched a Conway Township property for her daughter's remains.

Investigators concluded a dig Friday in the investigation of the disappearance of Paige Renkoski 21 years ago, without finding any remains.
The FBI, Michigan State University anthropologists and the Livingston County Sheriff's Department conducted the dig in four spots at a location of Sober Road in Conway Township after cadaver dogs indicated they had found the possible scent of human remains.
The investigative team expressed disappointment, but said they are still dedicated to the case, and will continue to follow up on leads.

(6,664 posts)We thought the cadaver dogs had identified where she might be buried but the search turned up nothing. The cold case team is still working on it though and will let us know if/when they come up with something new.
It was a pretty nerve wracking few days. Her mother and I were talking about it the morning of the dig; she said people would ask "Are you excited?" Well, duh, no we aren't excited. Who is excited to find a murdered loved one's remains? We want her found and we want justice but we certainly aren't "excited" about it. When they do find her, the pain and anguish of those early days will come rushing back. Especially since now the technology is so advanced they will be able to figure out how she died from testing the bones.
And, frankly, that scares me the most. I don't want to know how she suffered. If she was tortured or raped. It's hard enough to know she's never coming back without knowing what she went through.
I appreciate the interest -- thanks again.
(btw, it's Renkoski -- no 'w' )
