the district convention last Saturday. Both gave the same tired response about "needing to hear more from law enforcement" before deciding.

Then I heard Mike Freeman (Hennepin County Attorney) give his spiel to the group. He mentioned some program they've been running for kids (and it sounded like a good, promising program for redirecting young ones from gangs) but then he mentioned that it had been paid for with asset forfeitures in drug cases... and that is the reason law enforcement opposes medical marijuana, it may cut into their funding.

And he didn't say.

I should have worded my first post better. It was when Mike mentioned that Hennepin County had paid for a program with asset money that the light bulb finally went on for me about one big reason why "law enforcement" opposes legalization. I should not have implied that he indicated he opposes it for that reason.
