Did you know?

Did you know that Minnesota was the fourth-best state for George McGovern in 1972, even though our electoral votes went to Nixon? McGovern won Massachusetts and DC; the next best state for McGovern that yet went for Nixon was Rhode Island, then Minnesota as #4.

Do you think that Minnesota would still be one of the strongest states for McGovern today?

Personal story: When McGovern was running again in 1984, I spoke with him while wearing my DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) button. He leaned in and in a quiet voice said, "Actually, I am one of those, too".

(By the way, DSA is not a third party, but a political organization seeking economic democracy.)

1. The brainwashing in Churches, Schools, Jobs and Media, esp Talk Radio has worked well here.

The smoke and mirrors of the Pawlenty administration left people thinking that defunding the government had worked well and they seem to be not bright enough to realize that the reason they feel like they are poor is because now they are.

Tax burden transferred from corporations and people to people only, wages eroded by at least 30%,, pensions, safety net slashed, home equity stolen, stock market and all other commodities they can speculate on are simply used by the rich to transfer money to them. Then we have the health care racket in this country. The worst care the most money can buy. If you don't want to play you are fined.

But there is a terrible war on Christmas by the liberals that has to be fought fight so those other things someone else could worry about it, because not repeating the handed down mantras, memes etc is blasphemy, antisocial and probably communist AND fascist.

My cousins who have been hit the hardest by the conservative policies are the most brainwashed. (I have 57 first cousins so we have enough for a study.)

3. I often think the Time article about the "Good Life in Minnesota"

was the worse thing that ever happened to the state. It would have helped if it had mentioned that the people who lived in the state were willing to pay for the "good life".
