Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch resigned from her leadership post the day after four senior Senators confronted her about allegations that she had an "inappropriate relationship" with a staffer, senators said Thursday.
Deputy Majority Leader Geoff Michel said he and other senators had first heard complaints from staff about the relationship about two weeks ago. Michel did not name the staffer with whom Koch was said to have the relationship but said the staffer was male and a "direct report."
Koch suddenly resigned from the majority leader post Thursday and said she would not run for re-election next year.

(146,336 posts)But, the MN GOP sure seems to be in a pickle these days. It's just one thing after another. Tony Sutton quits, and his likely replacement is a scofflaw. Now we have Amy Koch fooling around with a Senate staffer. It all just seems too good to be true, somehow...
I love it.

(146,336 posts)The press seems to have discovered that they can pay a few bucks and do a background check on candidates. Expect lots more revelations next year. Candidates are going to want to 'fess up in advance if they have skeletons in their records. Otherwise, it'll be "Surprise, surprise! Look what we found." in your morning paper.
I love it. The Pioneer Press pointed out today that one of the people thinking about running against Amy Klobuchar has some dirty underwear, and they pointed out that Amy hasn't any spots on hers. Cool beans!
Amy's not the most progressive Democrat in the Senate, but she's still on our side.

(28,086 posts)is hardly the act of someone "on our side".
So much for the oath Amykins took to "preserve, protect and defend" the Consitution.

(4,143 posts)I've had a few chats with her the preceded her run for office. She doesn't consider herself progressive either. Her money and background are old money establishment and it shows.

(28,086 posts)He gave a speech that would have warmed the hearts of the old Farmer-Laborites on the Range. I think that's where his heart lies - pity she didn't listen more to him.
I will never get over the way the DSCC along with the state party heirarchy shoved her down our throats in 2006, making it clear that no other candidate should even think about running for endorsement. I've never had any doubts that, if the Republicans hadn't all gone insane, that she would have joined them.

Michael Brodkorb, the passionate spokesman for the Minnesota Senate and chief aide to former Majority Leader Amy Koch, no longer works for the Senate.
In an email sent to senators and staff late Friday afternoon, interim Senate Majority Leader Geoff Michel said simply, "I have been informed by the Secretary of the Senate that Michael Brodkorb is no longer employed by the Minnesota Senate."
I'm shocked I tell you, shocked!

I remember tangling with that guy when I posted the Nazi re-enactors and captioned the picture College Republicans.
