Long TSA checkpoint lines try patience of Minneapolis-St. Paul airport travelers

Long and occasionally chaotic security lines tested the patience of travelers Monday at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport’s main terminal — and could do so for months.

The lines at Terminal 1, also known as the Lindbergh terminal, are the result of a construction project at the south checkpoint, limiting the number of people being screened there. Monday was the first test of the new configuration, which will last until mid-December.

(snip)

Lines for the south checkpoint, reserved for those with TSA PreCheck, Clear with PreCheck and airport employees, were often longer than those for passengers without expedited screening using the north checkpoint. This caused some consternation — PreCheck costs $85 for five years, and Clear, $179 a year.

======

In the past few years, we had a PreCheck on our boarding passes. Luck of the draw, I think. And I think it ended. We travel once perhaps twice a year and was not going to pay for this. Now it appears that it is not worth it. At least not during the MSP renovatins.

2. My next door neighbor was a TSA screener at MSP airport

Actually I don't know what his TSA job or jobs was. But has been TSA'ing there for at least 10 years. Quit from the stress about a year ago. He had a stroke, and that apparently precipitated the decision to quit. I'm sure glad he isn't working that job now.

Fortunately he has recovered very well from the stroke. It took a lot of therapy and work.
