I always cringe when I see the tax credit for a stillborn child (yes, tax filing time)

Never been in this situation and cannot imagine the loss. But why give a special credit there?

And if one wants to be cynic, why not give credit for parents whose child was killed in a crossfire between gangs? Have been too many.

They don't give credit for children killed because it's not a credit for the death. WhiskeyGrinder Jan 2020 #1

It's a credit for the investment and costs of pregnancy. Children who have been "killed in a crossfire between gangs" have already been eligible for dependency/exemption status.

Also expenses associated with pregnancy but never reached the statue of a dependent?

I did not look at the form but I suppose it would be equivalent to one dependent..

of the stillbirth of our daughter.

To my knowledge, there was no tax credit in 1989. Maybe there should have been one to reflect the cost of visiting her grave almost every day for 6 months before I could let go of the grief.

This OP is in very poor taste.
