1. Leaving the scene of a gun discharge should be categorically illegal,

even if no injury occurs, like a vehicular hit and run. But the penalty should be even worse, by a large margin.

when her pursed dropped and hit the floor. No carry license and other charges.

15. The video shows the guy jumps/ducks when the shot goes off, wondering where/how it happened.

I think he and the woman move off their counter stools to leave, but he then stoops to pick up the gun.

7. That's what the assailants are saying, but that's not what occurred in the video

It looks like the man was putting his phone back in his pocket when the gun, which was presumably in his pocket, went off (0:41 in the video).

If the woman dropped her purse on the floor, then why was she holding it on her lap right after the shot occurred (0:49 in the video). She hadn't reached down to the floor after the shot, so it hadn't really fallen to the floor.

My theory is that the man has a record and the woman does not, so she's taking the fall for him.

But anyone who watches the video can see that their story is obviously false.

I agree. Might even be on parole or probation.

Thanks, gun-humpers. Now one can get shot while eating at a cafe, pumping gas, driving down the road. Thanks, too, for the armed officer dressed in black (nice guy, BTW) who patrols the hallways at the school where I’m employed, and for our campus increasingly resembling a prison, where all doors must remain closed and locked at all times now. This ignorant, unsympathetic couple with their stupid gun; watching the guy stroll casually out the door while his ignorant other half pretends to be helpful as a means of covering her sorry ass. Shameful doesn’t begin to describe.

Their victim could have been killed, and it seems they wouldn't have reacted much differently, and if it hadn't been clear they were on video, they might not have turned themselves in at all. If they go away for ten years (instead of a ten day suspended sentence), and the story makes front page news everywhere, maybe, just maybe, some gun nuts will get the message: if it isn't allowed, then DON'T CARRY A WEAPON IN THERE. It doesn't seem like you need a PhD in physics to figure that out.

They all think "That can't happen to me" until it does.

How many children have been killed and injured by gun "enthusiasts" leaving their lethal toys out where their or other kids can get at them? Has any of it made any difference to the NRA groupies?

There is too much stupid in the world for there to be such easy access to firearms.

It was different when you had to have some skill to use a musket.

Nowadays, any graduate of Kruger-Dunning University is easily capable of slaughtering dozens with a literal flick of the finger.

Thank you gunners for putting us all at risk.

This is one thing they got right. It is extremely difficult to get a permit to own a firearm here, and if you do, be prepared for spot checks on how and where you keep it. If the inspectors find you are careless with how you store it, you lose both your license and your gun. "Open carry" here refers to beer bottles.
