What can I do in Albuquerque with a few hours?

Arriving by train (weekday) and I have late morning and early afternoon to kill before taking the Railrunner to Santa Fe.

Suggestions?

1. Cab ride to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center

Lunch at their very fine restaurant (one of three best in the city, IMO), quick look-see, and back to the station via cab.

I'm posting the Rail Runner schedule for your delight and edification.

6. My suggestion exactly.

I don't think you can take the public bus from the Amtrak station in ABQ, but you can take the public bus back from the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center to the downtown ABQ RailRunner stop. If you want.

How long are you going to be in Santa Fe?

Hope you have a lovely time here.

10. I'm heading to NM in Nov.

ABQ then SF. I'll be up in SF the 9th to the 13th. One of these times we must meet! If I'm feeling up to it, I'll message you. I just put my dog down so I'm kinda up and down emotionally. I'm hitting a fan fest in ABQ then off to SF for some introspection/downtime

11. PM me, if you want,

a little closer to the date.

I have a week committed to helping out at the local homeless shelter, but I'm pretty sure it's the next week.

2. Petroglyph National Monument is truly cool, but you'd probably have to rent a

car at the train station (if possible). It's on the westside of Albuquerque. You'd have to pick which trail you'd follow -- you wouldn't be able to see the whole place, but the petroglyphs are amazing.

3. Walk east on Central a few blocks, just past Broadway to the Standard Diner. Very good food.

Have a nice time in Santa Fe. Try the Tusuque Diner, in Tusuque.

Thinking about head towards Old Town on the bus. Anything recommended in that area?

Looking forward to green chili overload - but maybe not every meal.

5. The famous La Placita on the Plaza.

Don't go to church street cafe, service is consistently bad.
