Casino foes fear loss of town's character

Kenneth C. Crowe II

Troy

Opponents of a proposed casino in East Greenbush bluntly told Rensselaer County legislators Wednesday night they don't want to see it built.

They expressed anger at the approvals given by the County Legislature in January and the East Greenbush Town Board in April to resolutions supporting casinos.

"If we had known about it, we would have fought it," said Mindy Feman, an East Greenbush resident, about her Town Board's action.

"I'm not happy about it. You shouldn't be happy about it," Dwight Jenkins, of 41 Thompson Hill Road, down the street from the proposed site of The Casino at East Greenbush, told legislators.
