NY Senate OKs harsher penalty for harming kids

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- New York's Senate has passed a bill that would make the aggravated murder of a child punishable with a life sentence in prison without parole.

The bill expands on the existing law of aggravated abuse of a child which makes it a crime when someone recklessly causes physical injury to a child under the age of 14.
