Poll: Anthony Weiner should drop out of mayor's race

Eyewitness News

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Congressman Anthony Weiner drops to fourth place among likely Democratic primary voters in a new poll as more than half of likely voters say he should drop out of the race for New York City mayor.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll, 53 percent of likely voters say Weiner should drop out because the new revelations of sexting after he resigned from Congress in 2011 in a scandal that revolved around the same behavior.

Weiner gets 16 percent of likely Democratic primary voters today, compared to his first-place position with 26 percent in a July 24 survey by Quinnipiac University.

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn leads the Democratic pack with 27 percent, with 21 percent for Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, 20 percent for former Comptroller William Thompson, 6 percent for Comptroller John Liu and 2 percent for former Council member Sal Albanese, the poll finds. Seven percent of likely Democratic primary voters remain undecided.

If Weiner drops out, Quinn gets 30 percent, with 25 percent each for Thompson and de Blasio and 9 percent for Liu.

1. it's the Night of the Long Knives for weiner as the corporations he threatened strike back

from wikipedia:
During the health care reform debates of 2009, Weiner advocated for a bill called the United States National Health Care Act, which would have expanded Medicare to all Americans, regardless of age.[20][21] He remarked that while 4% of Medicare funds go to overhead,[22] private insurers put 30% of their customer's money into profits and overhead instead of into health care.[23] In late July 2009, Weiner secured a full House floor vote for single payer health care in exchange for not amending America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 (AAHCA) in Committee mark-up with a single-payer plan.[24] When a public health insurance option was being considered as part of America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009, he said it would help towards reducing costs, and set up a website to push for the option.[23] He attracted wide attention when described the Republican Party as "a wholly owned subsidiary of the insurance industry, teaming up with a small group of Democrats to try to protect that industry",[25] and proclaimed in front of Congress in February 2010 that "every single Republican I have ever met in my entire life is a wholly owned subsidiary of the insurance industry."[26]

=============

Weiner fought like no other congressperson for single payer during the 2009 fight during which the democratic senators killed single payer using the 'rotating villain" scheme.

Weiner and the handful of other real leftists in congress lost, thanks to the senate and obama, which caved to corporate interests.

And now the corporations that were threatened by single payer and are killing off weiner with a witch hunt using the lapdog media.

And guess what? 99% of the so called progressive are grabbing their pitchforks and joining in the witch hunt against one of the few people in congress who actually fought for single payer.

What's matter with kansas? The so called Left in america is a puppet operated by the corporate media.

has fought for healthcare and you've seen it doesn't make him the most amazing canddiate for the mayor of nyc. We have 2 other choices both of whom do better against Quinn in the runoff.

We have a very progressive choice in bill deblasio why on earth can a progressive only support a guy cuz he made a speech on healthcare?

or they'd realize we have people who are equally progressive that do better against quinn. Talk about healthcare! DeBlasio has been trying to keep our hospitals from being closed while quinn, who can beat weiner, blocked the paid sick leave act.

which makes both thompson AND bdb better for healthcare.

why is anyone not from ny be freaking out because a guy who made a speech messed up. I get defending him, but to call other people out for switching to a progressive who can actually beat quinn? lol. the speech was fun, wasn't THAT fun.

Besides, are we voting for the past or the future? The progressive who can beat quinn gets my vote. (and also those who don't need their wives next to them talking about their therapy, weiner is way off the mark. period.)

if blasio can get some press, he can get his numbers up 4 or 5 points. Thompson is already well known but will go up once Weiner loyalists realize they have to make a choice other than Weiner.

The problem with thompson's prospects for moving up in the polls other than the post-weiner crowd is that he comes off verrrrrrry low energy. You kinda want to literally light a fire under him. If he were to somehow appear a little more lively, he'd gain even more support, but he has never and he will never. But if he *did* for someone reason, he syphons votes from Quinn, not BdB. So i still have hope they can be 1 or 2.

Although i bet christine clown is getting heaps of money from the 1%, that's the only thing that will save her. hot mess.

If you back both BdB and BT, you win, b/c then ppl realize, oh, there *2* good choices (instead of 1 vs Quinn). Then recheck how things go after the debate. First and foremost, people must realize there are 2 good candidates in BdB and BT.

It's just knowing wayyyyy to much. ugh. i don't wanna know anyone's wang unless i'm using it or it's being sent to me personally. lol. i only looked because i'm thinking, hey, if he's showing it off to that many people, must be something really worth looking at! But meh, nothing out of the ordinary. I'll make sure i don't look at the next lot. *shudder*

Def. about to be a nail in the coffin. ouch. How embarrassing. She is so divorcing that dude, now that she's put on her show so she can get into public politics herself. I'm just so turned off by that. Oh well, i guess that's politics.

for whatever reason she married him, (and I'm am still baffled) she wants to have the him but better. Sometimes it takes something drastic for a person to wake up and change, and she may be seeing if he can dig deep and work on his shit for real. And his shit isn't sex, it's insecurity and something else. He knows what his problems are, and of cousre he wants to be different but insecurity issues aren't something you just throw off, it's a life-long process. She knew his internal flaws before she married him and it's something they would have agreed to work on. He probably got the shit kicked out of him every single day in school for being a skinny jewish kid named weiner, that shit leaves a mark. He fucked up, he got busted, it's bad but not the worst. Isn't it funny how life works out, she thought she was gonna be married to a charismatic mayor of nyc and now she has a disgraced unemployed husband. She may not have realized how deeply flawed he truly was or she may have and decided that was okay and that with time they could work through those, in which case that is a commitment she decided to make and it may take time for them both to see if he indeed can be the person they both hope he can be, you don't make a commitment like that and give up after 2 years. The fact that he did something so detrimental to his own career shows that it was about his issue and not about his feelings for her.

typing on a tiny phone, so apologies for typos.

in the next few weeks to a few months it will be clear how much he's willing to go through to straighten himself out, and she'l be thinking pretty hard the whole time. I wish her luck. I do wonder about her judgement though. He wasn't even willing to get a haircut. If you won't consent to even *looking* like an adult, that's pretty telling.

Here's some fucking adult hair...(rare for him).
?175

but he fights becoming an adult every step of the way. Good luck huma, cuz homeboy has *still* not cut his hair.
