Divestment groups at N.Y.U., Columbia get a formal hearing

Conor Skelding

After years of agitation from campus groups, trustees at Columbia and New York universities are going to hear directly from student activists who say their institutions’ endowments should not include investments related to fossil fuels.

The hearings, to take place this summer, will be the culmination of a series of protests and meetings with the presidents of the two schools—Lee Bollinger at Columbia and John Sexton at N.Y.U.—that have taken place over the last three years.
