De Blasio Joins State Pols In Puerto Rico For Annual Conference

Ny1News

While excitement and anticipation builds for New York City's first Democrat in 20 years to take office, mayor-elect Bill de Blasio has left the five boroughs for Puerto Rico.

De Blasio traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico on Thursday for the Somos El Futuro conference, an annual conference of New York's Hispanic elected officials.

The next mayor of New York will attend one or two events on Thursday night and speak on Friday. He will also hold a Q and A with reporters Friday. After that, de Blasio and his wife, Chirlane McCray, plan to take some much-needed downtime.

Democratic elected officials attending the conference were excited, especially because de Blasio will be the first Democrat in City Hall in two decades.
