FEC Flags Contributions to Grimm from Boehner, Ryan, Former Father-in-Law

The Federal Election Commission flagged Rep. Michael Grimm (R-Staten Island) for receiving excess campaign contributions from House Speaker John Boehner, former VP nominee Paul Ryan and Grimm’s ex-wife’s father.

Grimm spokesman Nick Iacono said the campaign is fixing its records after what he called a routine inquiry resulting from clerical errors.

“Our campaign will be making the appropriate edits in a timely fashion,” Iacano said.

But for Grimm, even accidently accepting excess campaign cash is notable, a reminder that he remains under federal investigation for allegations that include knowingly accepting illegal contributions during his 2010 campaign
