DREAM Act Out Of NYS Senate Budget Resolution, Sources Say

A push to include the state DREAM Act in the Senate's one-house budget resolution has failed.

Sources say the measure to allow state financial assistance programs to cover the college kids of illegal immigrants will not make it into the final resolution.

The Assembly one-house budget bill contained $25 million to fund a state DREAM Act.

The five dissident Democrats led by Sen. Jeffrey Klein who share control of the Senate with the Republicans have been holding out to include the measure in a final Senate resolution.
