New York district attorneys riled by push to defund anti-corruption commission

KENNETH LOVETT

ALBANY — Some of the district attorneys serving on Gov. Cuomo’s anti-corruption commission are not happy their work may be cut short if any ethics reform package is included in the upcoming state budget.

Legislative leaders, who already pushed to defund the commission, are not likely to sign off on such a reform package unless Cuomo agrees to pull the plug on the panel, insiders say.

After uncovering possible corruption, a number of district attorneys on the panel wonder how they can just walk away without finishing the investigations to see if criminal referrals are warranted, sources close to the commission say.
