Budget bills omit New York City speed cameras

Dana Rubinstein

Governor Andrew Cuomo and the state legislature appear to have denied a request from Mayor Bill de Blasio for 160 new speed cameras, an integral part of his Vision Zero plan to dramatically reduce traffic deaths in New York City.

Legislative leaders have yet to publicly announce a budget agreement, but budget bills printed late Friday night and early Saturday morning do not include the requested cameras.

The Working Families Party might have a primary and not rubber stamp Cuomo as their nominee. He may have a much cloeer race than he expects.
