NEW YORK (AP) Sen. Charles Schumer is proposing a New York City homecoming parade for troops returned from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
Along with veterans' groups, Schumer says it's time to honor "America's post 9/11 troops," continuing the modern tradition of welcome home parades down Broadway in lower Manhattan's "Canyon of Heroes."

(7,300 posts)only after this country actually lives up to the the bumper sticker "Support Our Troops". Fully fund the VA. Expand educational/health benefits to all veterans. Provide emergency housing to homeless vets, etc. Do those things first then a friggin' parade so both the veteran and the citizen can celebrate.

(12,504 posts)Bush lost both those wars almost 10 years ago, and everyone knows that due to gross incompetence he just kicked the can down the road for the next poor sap of a president to clean it up.
Troops know they would not be parading for victory like some post-WWII event, and they know they are not supported by the republican chickenhawks that cut their VA benefits.
Shut up Chuckie.

But I think he'd rather talk about the parade. Hmmmm......
