North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Calls LGBTQ Community "Filth"

North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, a Republican, is facing calls to resign following a leaked video that shows him calling the LGBTQ community “filth.”

The video, obtained by the People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch project, shows Robinson spewing a hate-filled rant about LGBTQ-inclusive education over the summer at the Asbury Baptist Church in Seagrove, North Carolina. In the viral one-minute clip of Robinson’s speech, he also used outdated and homophobic language to refer to the queer and trans community.

“I’m saying this now, and I’ve been saying it, and I don’t care who likes it: Those issues have no place in a school. There’s no reason anybody anywhere in America should be telling any child about transgenderism, homosexuality — any of that filth,” Robinson told the congregation.

He added, “And yes, I called it filth. And if you don’t like it that I called it filth, come see me, and I’ll explain it to you. It’s time for us to stop letting these children be abused in schools, and it’s not going to happen till the people of God stand up and demand different, same ones that established those schools, to begin with.”

Yet, if I were to go out and start insulting him there would be lawsuits and social attacks and physical attacks (which are going to happen to people like us thanks to his hate speech). And, he chose a church to say this. As though he knew that saying that insulting idiocy anywhere else would probably get him laughed at or insulted right back. Nothing more ego stroking than a captive audience. This guy is part and parcel to why my home state is trying to beat out Mississippi and West (BAI GAWD) Virginia for the worst state to be in. The rethugs there do not care one whit about the people they 'represent', they just want the state to be always at each others throats so that they can raid it like any other corporation until there is nothing left to raid. And, since they have a scapegoat in the form of Governor Cooper, they can always pretend like it is his (and by extension the Dems) fault. The Democrats in the state of North Carolina really need to start hammering home how these weasels are destroying the state. Just that. Proof after proof. And, never let up. Show it on every station and on every billboard. They are a plague. Any plague needs to be wiped out.

He also spoke about the second amendment. He spoke about how we fought against tyranny during the revolutionary war. He then went on to talk about thugs closing down churches, saying our governor did that last year. He was then said and that's why we need to be able to defend ourselves. I felt like that was a subtle threat against the governor and I emailed their office.

I think a lot of the liberal community has been afraid to speak out against Robinson because they're afraid of being labelled a racist, but this guy is scary. I feel like he's NC's Trump.
