Yep we still have our share of idiots in Ohio

Who have no compassion or common sense

And guess what, they’re Republicans!

Unhappy with Dr. Amy Acton, Ohio House moves to limit health director’s power

Republican lawmakers have introduced an amendment that would limit any stay-at-home order issued by the Ohio Department of Health to 14 days.

If the department wanted to extend the order beyond those two weeks, it would need the approval of an existing bipartisan committee called the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review made up of five representatives and five senators.

“The joint committee shall determine the period of the extension, if any,” according to the amendment.

A House committee is scheduled to vote on the amendment Wednesday morning -- potentially setting up a vote by the full House on Wednesday afternoon.

Gov. Mike DeWine and Ohio Director of Health Dr. Amy Acton issued the first “stay-at-home” health order March 23 and have extended a revised version until the end of May in an effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

DeWine and Acton have both called the orders necessary, but many members of the governor’s own party have expressed disagreement, saying the number of deaths in the Buckeye State don’t justify the economic hardships being born by businesses and residents who are out of work. They’ve been calling on the governor to reopen the state faster.

******* “deaths don’t justify economic hardship.”

Did they even stop to think that Ohio’s death numbers are below neighboring states BECAUSE of Dr. Acton’s orders??

In a word, no.

Vlad Putin is pulling these people's chains by telling them that their free-dumbs and precious
guns are under attack by Dr. Acton's public health guidelines.

He's still a Republican, so I doubt it continues.

He already backed down after initially requiring face masks for everyone in the public.

And you're right, he's still a republican so I too doubt it will continue. He's ability to "follow the science" here is diametrically opposed to his unwillingness to follow the science on womens health issues, environmental issues or gun legislation issues.

So he's batting one for four. When I look at republican governors, he's probably at the top of the heap in how he's handing it...but then again, the competition in that group is pretty weak for sure.

about protecting Buckeyes. He has earned much respect. Dr. Acton has been an admired and amazing source of calm and comfort in horrendous times. They have both been incredibly mindful of risks and potential suffering and have come down on the side of public safety and well being.

Fairly sure that misogyny (and bigotry) is playing a huge part of this arrogant, power grab move.

Look at the over the top backlash against Gov. Whitmer - a woman
Now the same over Dr. Acton - a Jewish woman

Are these idiots composed of incels as well?

that the ingrained misogyny runs very deep. My experience has been that the men who are infected with that fear and hate are very often conservative, insecure, bullies, highly entrenched in patriarchal religion, suffer from power issues and lean strongly Republican.
And they calculatingly hide the misogyny behind other stated issues.

Just one woman’s opinion. 😎

I blurted that same thing out last night when Mr. O and I were watching the news. It's because she's a woman. They just can't stand being ordered to do something by a woman. And they call it other names as they protest, but to people like you and me, it's obvious.

Your statement was very well worded.
