Mallory. Good guy. Know him. Like him. Been there done that. He’s got baggage with a lot of folks.

Driehaus. Know her. Like her. Currently county commissioner from a politically active/connected family. I’d like to see her in the job but I wonder if she would see it as a step back from her current role.

Aftab. Know him. Worked with him. Like him. My favorite choice. Got burned running against chabot in 2018 by a stupid 150 charge card mistake that chabot turned into a campaign issue. In spite of his own campaign losing 135k to point unknown.

Smitherman. Don’t know him. Hard to say. I think he’s going to have an issue of guilt by association with the 3 council members indicted.

Mann. Know him. Like him. Been there done that. He’s been at city hall forever and I just think it’s time to move on.

Pepper. Know him. Like him. Family is very local for me. Watched him grow up. Like him a lot. Currently Ohio Democratic Party leader. Just dint know how to call it. He’s run before unsuccessfully and while I like him, I just feel like he’s missing that edge of leadership.

So aftab or Denise.

My 2 cents.

1. Denise first, if she wants it.
2. Followed by Aftab, Pepper or Mann.
Smitherman is not a Dem AFAIK. Didn't he start out as a Charterite - (a quasi-Dem at times in 21st century.)
Mallory - Heavy baggage - streetcar.

Others? - Is Bridget Kelly ready or interested?
Alicia Reese would probably like it, but should stay in Ham. Co Commisioner seat for a while.

New blood needed locally. Credible people.

I put Aftab at the top because I just don't see Denise taking the "step back". The stepping stone to Columbus goes through the County roles, not so much the mayor's office and I think Denise has her eye on bigger things.

Not familiar with Kelly and it's definitely too soon for Alicia to make a move. The paint on her new office walls ain't even dry yet. lol

Completely agree with your close - new people please. Not clear where it's going to come from. It's not like city council is rife with ethical young talent. lol
