Boy Scout leader deserves 10- to 20-year jail term for molesting one of his boys, Pa. court says
A Boy Scout leader who was convicted of sexually molesting one of his teenage charges repeatedly is right where he should be in prison a state Superior Court panel has concluded. The court reached that conclusion in an opinion by Judge Mary Jane Bowes, who rejected Krzysztof Mozdzoneks contention on appeal that his 10- to 20-year jail sentence is excessive.
As Bowes noted, Mozdzonek, now 59, was accused of starting to sexually abuse the then 15-year-old boy in November 2013 when he and other Polish scouts attended a house party in Philadelphia. Investigators said Mozdzonek gave the boy alcohol until the teen blacked out, the sexually abused him.
Weeks later, Mozdzonek gave the boy marijuana and molested him again, Bowes wrote, and there were 10 to 20 more incidents of abuse after that. She cited evidence that Mozdzonek gave the boy gifts and money during the course of the abuse and would punish the teen for refusing his advances by taking away a privilege.
On appeal, Mozdzonek argued that the Philly judge who sentenced him didnt consider his ... positive force in the Philadelphia-area Polish community.
