Two women were charged by Frazer Township police on Saturday with stealing nearly $3,000 worth of merchandise from a Walmart store over five days after one of them was spotted, according to police, shoplifting a supplement that claims to improve brain health.
Police were dispatched to the Walmart at the Pittsburgh Mills mall after store security officers detained a woman they said was removing bottles of the supplement Prevagen from their boxes and placing them in her purse, according to a criminal complaint filed in support of the charges.

Daureen Leigh Linn, 47, of Natrona Heights, and Kandice Marie Stover, 29, of Brackenridge, were taken into custody by store security officers after failing to scan and pay for items valued at $1,362 at a self-checkout line, the complaint said.
In addition to the bottles of Prevagen,
the woman are accused of stealing a calculator, shoes, body wash, bird treats
and other items. Officers filed the charges after reviewing surveillance video of their actions on Oct. 16.

Additional charges were filed after police say security video showed the women taking items from the store without paying on four other occasions. They are charged with theft of merchandise worth $248 on Oct. 9, $439 on Oct. 11, $507 on Oct. 12 and $319 on Oct. 13.

Both woman were charged with felony counts of criminal conspiracy and retail theft. Stover was released from the Allegheny County Jail after posting a $10,000 bond, according to court records. She faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge David Sosovicka on Oct. 25.
