http://catholicphilly.com/media-files/2014/03/+AVP-Presenting-The-Corbetts-with-Gift.jpgCorbett flew to Rome with the hope of getting a photo op with Pope Francis. However, the private meeting that was scheduled with the Pope to discuss an event in Philadelphia was just cancelled. The Pope's people say the Pope was too busy.
Corbett's only photo ops have been with a local archbishop and the wife of the US Ambassador to the Vatican. That won't make a very good campaign commercial.

(113,048 posts)No way does the pope want his picture taken with Corbett, the attorney general who couldn't manage to find anything amiss in the stacks of files on Jerry Sandusky, then, as governor, sent millions of taxpayer dollars to Sandusky's foundation. Hush money.
Corbett should be in jail.

Yesterday somehow a pro-Corbett ad got in my FB. The comments were priceless especially a few "I'm a republican and would never vote for him" types.

(12,319 posts)They've been covering this on the local news. Actually, they did get their photo op, but no private meeting:

That picture of Corbett makes me want to hurl.

(6,819 posts)So Corbett and Nutter were given a combined total of 2 minutes to speak to Pope Francis. However, the Pope does not speak English. Here is what he heard:
"Your Excellency, blah blah Governor blah blah Pennsylvania. Blah blah, wife Susan. Blah blah Philadelphia blah blah blah 2015? Blah blah blah here's Phillies and Eagles Jersies blah blah blah. Thank you."
The Phila. Inquirer said the Pope did not speak, but just provided "smiles and nods". Yep.
