Grand jury recommends criminal charges against AG Kane, newspaper says.

HARRISBURG — A statewide grand jury will recommend criminal charges against the state's top law enforcement officer, Attorney General Kathleen Kane, including perjury and contempt of court, stemming from an investigation of whether her office leaked grand jury information to a Philadelphia newspaper.

The Philadelphia Inquirer, citing unnamed sources, reported Thursday that the grand jury meeting in Montgomery County found evidence of wrongdoing and recommended Kane be criminally charged.

Kane's Washington-based attorney, Lanny Davis, said he could not confirm the Inquirer's report.

Kane has claimed innocence. HARRISBURG — Attorney General Kathleen Kane said Friday that a “fair and impartial review of the facts” will conclude she has done nothing illegal and is under political attack.

In her first public statement since a Philadelphia newspaper's report that a grand jury will recommend criminal charges against Kane for leaking confidential information, she said, “This seems to me to be another political attack on my attempt to clean up Harrisburg and its political culture. They have fought me all the way, including an effort to impeach me.”

Bill campaigned for Kane, as I recall. There is a connection with the Clintons.

Corbett was AG who didn't take action early on when evidence was produced about Sandusky. There's probably more than a few well placed people who would like to see her go away.

Was the Philadelphia newspaper in question located in Montgomery County? Or is it that this is a Republican area? I know little about that side of the state but that doesn't make sense to me.

All involved are republicans, though.

Ferman, who is running for judge, Montgomery County Judge William Carpenter, who oversaw the grand jury investigating the leak, and its special prosecutor Thomas Carluccio are Republicans, as is retired Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald Castille, who authorized hiring a special prosecutor.

"Historically, Montgomery County was a stronghold for the Republican Party."

3 out of 5 U.S. representatives are Republicans

Chaka Fattah, Democrat, 2nd district
Ryan Costello, Republican, 6th district
Pat Meehan, Republican, 7th district
Mike Fitzpatrick, Republican, 8th district
Brendan F. Boyle, Democrat, 13th district

"Barak Obama won Montgomery County in 2008 and 2012, however Republicans hold many local offices in the county."

The front page of the Jan. 22 Allentown Morning Call carries a huge, bold headline: Perjury charge for Kane?

The conservative papers and TV in the eastern part of the state are trumpeting this like Ms. Kane has already been convicted. Is it like this in the western part of PA too?
