200 headstones spray-painted at Kiski Township cemetery
Kiski Township (Armstrong County, PA - near Pittsburgh) police are in charge of finding the vandals who defaced the headstones sometime between sundown Friday and early Saturday morning.
This must be done the right way, the first time, said Riverview Manager Adam Shupe.
We need to find the right process as soon as possible.
Shupe said the vandalized headstones are essentially in a straight line, and he believes one or two people walked through the cemetery spraying the red paint as they went.
Pettigrew said most of the stones had X's drawn on them, and on some stones, the relationship such as father or mother was sprayed over. She said one stone had the number 108 painted on it.
The cemetery has been in existence since 1908, and many of the defaced markers are on graves older than 100 years, he said.
