State university contract talks conclude for the day
Daylong contract negotiations concluded for the evening between representatives of Pennsylvania's 14 state-owned universities and the union representing faculty, union officials said.
The talks at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in search of an agreement are to resume Wednesday morning.
Details from today's talks were not disclosed in a two-sentence statement from the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties. The union and the State System of Higher Education have been without a contract since June 30, 2015, and the parties are holding talks with the start of fall classes slated for Aug. 29.
The 107,000-student State System includes the western Pennsylvania campuses of California, Clarion, Edinboro, Indiana and Slippery Rock universities. APSCUF represents about 5,500 faculty.
