Jack Kelly, the local rightwing columnist at the Pgh Post-Gazette announced a day or so ago that he was retiring due to a recurrance of cancer. Ironically Mr anti-union, anti-ACA and anti-all things safety net was very grateful to the writer's guild/union, presumably for protecting him from being fired when he had to take off for chemo the first time.
The commentors wished him well, but I'll be happy if it's an aggressive cancer that puts another rw crank out of their misery shortly.

(2,654 posts)A few times, I voiced my disagreement with a column of his by either emailing him or posting my comment at the end of his column on the Post Gazette website.
As someone once explained to me, a newspaper likes to publish the output of at least one right winger in order to assuage big money corporate advertisers such as banks.
In the byline to his columns, Kelly is billed as a "National Security Expert" or some such thing. I believe that his resume reads that he is a combat veteran of the Vietnam War (I think, specifically, a veteran of the Special Forces).
I avoided his columns because I felt he sometimes related events which were either not factual or not as clear-cut as he made them out to be.
Regardless, I wish him well with his course of medical treatment.

(15,286 posts)Kelly was one of the rightwingers constantly bashing Obama and everything Dems did or tried to do. He and his whacko brethren are a big reason Trump is president. I have no use for people like him who want things for themselves, like good health care and union protection, but would deny it to everyone else.
