Beaver County elects new head of Dem Party

Stephen Dupree was elected the new head of the Democratic Party here. He's looking to fill 52 vacant committee seats in the county with young members.

A lifelong Beaver County resident, Dupree works for McKesson Pharmacy and Automation Services. He's been a committee member for about seven years and previously was president of the county's young Democrat group.

"I think the party needed a reformation," Dupree said Wednesday. "It needed to get back to its identity of being the workingman's party and not just a party that cared about social issues. Obviously, I care about social issues, but that's not our sole focus."

He said he hopes to reinvigorate the party with an infusion of young members, he said.

There are 52 vacant committee seats in the county, and he'd like to see those filled with younger members who can then tap into the experience of the party's older hands, he said.

"I see us working together to build a better Democratic Party," Dupree said.

The news website www.beavercountian.com investigates, and publishes online articles on, matters not usually covered by traditional media outlets.

The BeaverCountian is online only. The publisher spends most of his bandwith attacking local Dems.

This article is from the local newspaper, the Beaver County Times.

The website beavercountian.com is critical to each party when the publisher uncovers information leading to such conclusions. In several articles, beavercountian.com has been extremely critical of the Republican sheriff who took office in January 2016. The site has also published several articles critical of the Republican district attorney who also took office in January 2016. The site has also published stories questioning the high degree of influence a certain Republican state representative (whose district covers a relatively small swath of the county) is exerting over county politics.
