Eric Frein sentenced to death in trooper ambush

Update: Eric Frein has been sentenced to death in the 2014 ambush of a Pennsylvania state police barracks.

The decision was announced just after 10 p.m. after more than four hours of deliberations.

Shortly after the verdict was announced, a bell at the courthouse rang 8 times, signaling the sentence was death.

He will in fact be sentenced tomorrow morning. The jury, from Chester County, voted for the death penalty tonight. The District Attorney of Pike County had tainted the jury pool in Pike County during his reelection campaign and the jury had to be drawn from a distant county.
