Joe Hill Road Show: A Musical History of the Early Labor Movement is an acclaimed educational and entertaining multi-media presentation by Shelby Bottom Duo (Michael August & Nell Levin). Comprised of live music, oral history, a slide show of historical images and a post-concert audience discussion, the Show has been performed 25 times at colleges, labor unions and community groups. Joe Hill was a member of the Industrial Workers of the World. He was a songwriter who is the precursor of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and Bob Dylan. He was framed and executed by a firing squad in 1915 and subsequently became a labor icon. This performance is sponsored by the Davidson County Democratic Women and the Tennessee Arts Commission.
