Organizers say film festival will bring under-represented art

The first Victoria Texas Independent Film Festival will be at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts.

From March 22-24, entertainment novices and aficionados can enjoy 20 independent films. Some of the genres include documentaries, fiction and shorts.

Anthony Pedone, who spearheaded the event, said he wanted to celebrate the art of independent filmmaking and introduce Victoria to an under-represented art form.

"This is my home. This is something that I would like to see become a yearly event," said the 41-year-old Victoria native.
