VICTORIA A South Texas constable candidate has been jailed on money laundering charges after officers found more than $1 million in his car during a traffic stop.
Robert "Bobby" Maldonado of Mercedes was fired in 1994 as a Texas trooper.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Tom Vinger told The McAllen Monitor that Maldonado refused an inspection of his car Monday near Victoria. A law enforcement dog alerted officers, who found luggage with more than 100 bundles of cash.
An arrest report indicates the money was wrapped in a manner consistent with drug trafficking.

I think some of Bobby's business associates are going to be upset with him.
