(61,705 posts)I think it also belongs in GD or another general forum so others can see what we've been dealing with here: the corporate state and 1% are getting richer while everyone else struggles financially and medically.

(4,879 posts)The last time I saw a doctor was when my youngest child was born. My youngest grandchild is now in high school. That should give you a hint how long that has been.
Thankfully, I've been relatively healthy. I have had to work through some rather major physical injuries on my own though.
I'm not a bum. I work 7 days a week. I've managed to pay off a mortgage and continue to pay the taxes that come with being a property owner. I've never applied for, nor have been a recipient of any government benefits.
I provide a home for two disabled people, so they don't become homeless.
Why does the state of Texas find me unworthy?

(1,399 posts)Still, I imagine not all that much has changed. Hopefully it will come 2014, even though there's still a large gap between people who make too much to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to use the Federal Exchange.
If I were Wendy Davis I would make that my number one campaign issue to show just how little Rs in the state care about the less fortunate. It could also be the one issue that could get a high Hispanic turnout, which would be critical to her chances of winning.
