I am curious are home insurance rates skyrocketing in your area?

I live about 30 miles from the coast. My insurance has gone up 15% just this last month.

Prior to deregulation I was paying 800 a year with a $500 deductible. I am now paying $3800 year with a $4000 deductible.

Anyone have the same increases? If so, where do you live?

I certainly can't. I barely have enough to feed myself, keep the county from seizing my property for late property taxes, keep auto insurance, and keep my near 20 year old vehicle on the road. Then, there's minor issues like home repairs which aren't even in the equation. At least I have food, heat, and electricity. My heating bill this winter has been about $2,400. Thank goodness I did not waste it on home insurance.

But it's been $5,000 a year with a $5,000 deductible for that whole time.

Both of your rates look pretty good to this west Texan.
