Stockman again under FEC scrutiny
WASHINGTON - The Federal Election Commission has more questions for Steve Stockman.
On the failed candidate's House and Senate campaign filings, donors' employers and occupations aren't listed and the reports aren't signed by the campaign's treasurer - though that's all required by law.
The FEC sent inquiries to the two campaigns in the past week regarding missing information about contributors, filings show. Stockman lost the March 4 Texas Republican Senate primary to Sen. John Cornyn.
Federal election law requires campaigns to report the occupations and employers of contributors who give more than $200 in a single election cycle. Neither of the two Steve Stockman for Senate campaign reports - a year-end 2013 report and a pre-primary report - contain any of this information for itemized individual contributions. The pre-primary report was submitted without the signature of treasurer Dan Backer - who Wednesday called that "a clerical error."
