Hypocrite Greg Abbott heads to DC, city he despises, to round up campaign cash
WASHINGTON – Greg Abbott — having made his enmity for Washington a central part of his campaign for governor — will be in Washington on Wednesday raising money over lunch with lobbyists and other donors.
For $500 and up, guests can share lunch a block from the U.S. Capitol with the Texas attorney general and GOP nominee to replace Gov. Rick Perry. Co-hosts are asked to raise or give at least $10,000, according to an invite shared with the Dallas Morning News.
Top sponsors include political action committees affiliated with tobacco company Altria, along with aircraft maker Boeing, Luminant Power, Valero Energy, and defense contractor Raytheon.
Texas law sets no cap on donations, though it bars money directly from corporations.
Abbott has zapped Democratic nominee Wendy Davis for jetting off to Washington to round up donations.
