(29,414 posts)because they went up 20%! I can't imagine 60%.
You know, I had thought there was a provision in the ACA that stipulated that rate increases couldn't be more than 6% per year. Was I dreaming, or was it excised from the final law?

(4,695 posts)Now I think that the Obama Administration Third Way New Democrats want foreign company competition set up through trade agreements like the TPP. The original intention of healthcare coverage, is trying to be switched to a third party; from single payer, to affordable healthcare-ACA, to foreign trade agreement companies.
I can see why the single payer healthcare policy of Bernie Sanders is very prominent now. It might be the reason that Clinton has not already clinked the nomination as her campaign keeps claiming. Doing the math means the nomination will be done at the D-Nation convention.
Older people would be best served by a single payer plan in which the price goes down every year as promised by Obama in his campaing 2007-08 and in speeches 2009-10. Another about face was trying to chain SS in 2013. I think that Obama and Clinton will turn to TPP Trade Agreement during the Lame Duck sessions of Congress. Single payer would have brought many new jobs to Americans. Looks like all those jobs will leave this country too if the TPP-Trans Pacific Partnerships Trade Agreement passes in Congress. In that case I will not enjoy talking to foreigners when I call my healthcare plan customer service representatives.

(4,695 posts)In my opinion there seems to be questions of trustworthiness developing in states who did not accept ACA and where American insurance companies are pulling out of the federal Marketplace. My ACA Marketplace Plan was not available until December 2015. BCBS of Texas was available in November of 2015 (2014 and for sign-up beginning Nov 2013). CIGNA is leaving too as of Dec 31, 2016. BCBS of Alabama left end of Dec 2015.

(10,122 posts)Why limit it to the ACA.
This year I am paying a bit more but I haven't seen any statements with a balance due. Quite an improvement over 2015. I will have to look at plans for 2017 if this happens.
