Bernie Sanders returning to Grand Prairie to rally Democrats against Donald Trump

Bernie Sanders, the runner-up in the Democratic contest for president, is returning to North Texas Thursday to rally residents against President Donald Trump's agenda.

The 75-year-old Vermont senator will be joined at Verizon Theater in Grand Prairie by Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., and deputy chairman of the Democratic National Committee. The event is part of the committee's Come Together and Fight Back tour.

Sanders and Ellison are visiting red and purple states to mobilize Democrats.

In Texas, Trump beat Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by 9 percentage points in the presidential election. Lone Star Democrats hope to build on that outcome. In previous election cycles, Democrats lost by 20 percentage points, including Wendy Davis' ill-fated 2014 race for governor against Greg Abbott.
