Tomorrow's the run-off for the Democratic senatorial primary. The race is between Paul Sadler, a former Democratic state legislator, and Grady Yarbrough, a fellow who has made token runs for office several times on both the Democratic--and the Republican--tickets.
As Paul Sadler has sent in a recent e-mail. This is not a game. This is serious. This is for real.
Those of us Texas DU'ers have been exposed to the stuff the Republican contenders have been slinging back and forth at each other--with terms like "moderate" and "amnesty" and "Obamacare." The prospect of having someone even further to the right of John Cornyn taking Kay Bailey Hutchison's seat (And whether or not we think Kay is a lady or not, we agree she's no moderate!) is appalling.
Play this run-off like it's for real and we can have a real candidate facing the Republican Party and the so-called "Club for Growth." And we can keep fighting these races until we have real victory.

(18,063 posts)Dear Democrat,
Some people raised concerns about a recent email we sent comparing the records of Paul Sadler and Grady Yarbrough the two individuals seeking the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate. Wed like to make it clear that the email was not an endorsement of a candidate, as the Texas Democratic Party does not endorse in the primary.
We did however; find it problematic that one of the candidates has not filed the required federal campaign finance reports that would have disclosed where his funding is coming from. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, Yarbrough hasnt kept up with Federal Elections Commission campaign finance filings [ ] There is no documented proof about how his campaign is funded.
The same candidate has also twice run for office as a Republican and has taken positions that are more consistent with the platform of the Republican Party. When asked about his position on immigration, Yarbrough said that the Berlin Wall was pretty effective.
In light of these extenuating circumstances, we felt compelled to share that information with you, and re-send the comparison of the two candidates. There is too much at stake.
Tomorrow is primary runoff- Election Day. Make sure you vote in the Democratic Primary for the remaining candidates that best represent our Party and will have the best shot at defeating Republicans in November. You can find your polling place here.
Lots more on the comparison of the two. Basically Yarbrough is coming off looking pretty shady and like a republican lite.
Vote Sadler!!

(9,117 posts)Grady Yarbrough reminds me of the guy that South Carolina Republicans found to run against Teab@gger Jim DeMint in South Carolina. The SC Republicans found a minority candidate with no platform, no experience, and no grit that couldn't even mount a token campaign so their boy could coast to an easy victory. I am very much worried that the same d__n thing is happening here in Texas, and that it might work.
BTW Early-voted for Sadler a week ago.
