Senator Cornyn Defends Secrecy Of Health Care Bill Discussion

The text of the bill is to be put on the internet, and it’s expected to be taken up by the full Senate next week. Senator John Cornyn says it’s unfortunate that health care has become such a partisan issue. He says that’s why the Senate committee has had to hammer out details behind closed doors.

“Unfortunately, due to the fact that Democrats will not participate in this process, but are actually hoping we fail, that we’re forced to deal with it in this manner. And it’ll be completely transparent, and there’ll be a wholesome debate and an unlimited amendments voted on.”

Senator Cornyn says there’s already been plenty of debate on the issue since 2010.

He says the new plan will stabilize insurance markets, will bring premium prices down, will continue current protections on pre-existing conditions, and will put Medicaid on a sustainable path.

You have to admit that will be a lot easier to do when insurance companies don't have to provide any real care to the people who need it most. They can go back to charging people for the illusion of insurance and either stonewall approval or simply deny care if it is ever needed.

I have dealt with that freak for over a decade, on the phones, email, regular mail..
He has NEVER represented me or mine.
When *I mean, WHEN!* I can get through on the phone, or email, I get some generic bs form letter/email response that has nothing to do with my original concerns.

Just be prepared to get a non-responsive response, or a canned rwnj talking points response, both of which makes me smh, & ask, "did you hear ANYTHING I said?!"
It's an exercise in frustration, but still IMPORTANT.
Also, he likes to leave his voice mail box "full", sometimes I have to call several of his offices to reach a real staffer. Texas offices are best.

7. I stared him down at my local grocery store this past fall.

He almost ran into me in the exit doors, we made eye contact, and he smiled a campaign smile at me thinking I was a supporter (except I live in South Austin). I frankly could not believe that he was at my grocery store, which is kind of rough, without security. I stared right through him, his smile faded very quickly, and the color drained from his face. I kept on walking. The whole incident sort of gives me a sense of hope.

You made me smile! I had a sorta similar encounter with a local republiker candidate, he had on that phony political grin, thinking he was really charming, asked me about myself,
(not because he cared, he was hoping to find a conversation starter)..
& I responded, "I am the Working Poor, & I am a Democrat!"
His face FELL, & he spun on his heel & walked away FAST.
