Restore Funding for Public Education
Article 7 of the Texas Constitution, adopted by the people of Texas in 1876, requires the Texas Legislature to establish and make suitable provision for the support and maintenance of an efficient system of free public schools. We, the people of Texas, hereby petition the Texas Legislature to reinstate compliance with Article 7 of the Texas Constitution by restoring the full $5.3B that was cut from Texas public education during the 2012/2013 Biennium.

(12,482 posts)We may actually see some progress in the next session of the leg. Even the most conservative of members are starting to hear from their conservative constituents that they are making bad decisions on school funding. You know without public schools there is no high school football. Think of it as libertarian - corporate think tanks meet the opposition of Friday night lights.
