Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls on Wednesday created a social media firestorm with a Facebook post threatening to bring disorderly conduct charges against the driver of a truck displaying a profane anti-Trump message on its rear window.
Nehls told the Houston Chronicle that he had received calls, texts and emails in recent days from people who took offense at the language in bold, white lettering: "F--- TRUMP AND F--- YOU FOR VOTING FOR HIM."
The sheriff, a Republican who is weighing a bid for Congress shared a photo on his official Facebook page in hopes that it would help to identify the truck owner. The license plate is not visible in the image.
Update: The photo has now been taken down. The sheriff's office released this statement on Thursday afternoon:
Turns out, a woman who identified herself as the driver said she used to work for Nehls in the county jail.

(29,414 posts)What it looks like to me is nothing more than vinyl sign-lettering. Go to any sign shop and tell them what you want made. They may or may not take your business, considering the content, so you may have to shop around.
Measure the vertical space where it's going to be placed, and then you can work out the sizes of the letters. My guess from looking at the lettering and the space in which it fits is that the first line is maybe 8". After that, the letters decrease progressively, so maybe 6", 5", and 4", respectively.
You can do it yourself, if you go to a hobby shop and get the lettering. Then you have to set the letters up on lightweight boards with low-tack tape so that the lettering adhesive is up. That allows you to affix a whole line of text in place, and with everything lining up perfectly.

(1,583 posts)Not a Court of Law.
There is a disturbing trend among law enforcement to take their case to Facebook and let the mob rule instead of actually prosecuting the law.
In a recent local case, an employee at a fast food restaurant refused to serve some police officers. These officers were served by another employee, but they wanted to get the first employee fired. When the manager refused to fire the person, the Chief of Police posted the whole thing on Facebook and led a boycott of the restaurant. Once the restaurant owners started seeing posts of "I'll never eat at xxx again!!", they quickly fired the employee.
This is not legal. But it is how things are handled in Trump's America.

(145,291 posts)I know both Rep. Reynolds and Brian Middleton. This will be fun to watch http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/fortbend/news/article/Owner-of-F-Trump-truck-attorney-threaten-12371570.php?ipid=happening
Fonseca's attorney, Brian Middleton, made the announcement during a press conference on Monday. Middleton added that the American Civil Liberties Union has also expressed interest in a possible lawsuit.
The threat of legal action stems from controversy over a Facebook post Nehls made on Wednesday, Nov. 15, regarding Fonseca's truck, which bears a sticker that reads "F--- Trump and f--- you for voting for him."
