Christian TV producer challenging Sen. Ted Cruz in GOP primary
AUSTIN — Christian TV producer Bruce Jacobson announced Thursday that he's running against Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in the 2018 Republican primary.
In a speech, Jacobson touted his conservative upbringing and values, calling Ronald Reagan his hero.
"He brought honor back to our country, and in my mind, he brought honor to the term 'politician,'" Jacobson said. "Reagan went to Washington to serve, not be served, and he had the ability to draw coalitions together to move forward a conservative agenda."
Jacobson, who is from North Richland Hills, works as executive producer at Life Today TV, a Christian cable show. He served as a special assistant to Reagan for six years of his presidency.
