SMU's Fiji fraternity ordered to cease activities amid hazing investigation

Southern Methodist University has ordered a second fraternity in a week to cease all activities over hazing allegations.

The Delta Tau chapter of Phi Gamma Delta was given the order Thursday while the university looks into reports of hazing, university spokesman Kent Best said in a written statement.

SMU police issued a conduct referral for a hazing offense at the Fiji house Wednesday evening, but no additional details were available, the Daily Campus reported.

"SMU will not tolerate hazing in any form," Best said.

The chapter was already on probation until spring 2019 because of "irresponsible conduct," and had been warned that further issues could result in suspension, according to the student newspaper.
