Justin Nelson, Democratic candidate for Texas attorney general, calls for ethics reforms
Calling Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton a crook, Justin Nelson, the Democratic candidate to be the states chief lawyer, pledged Thursday to introduce anti-corruption reforms should he be elected in November.
Its time to clean up state government in Texas, and that starts with replacing the person in the building behind me, Nelson, an attorney who teaches constitutional law at the University of Texas, said at a press conference outside attorney general offices near the Capitol.
Paxton, who is under indictment for two counts of felony securities fraud and one count of failing to register as an investment adviser, has dodged debates and the press, Nelson said.
Hes counting on people not knowing hes indicted, Nelson said. People dont want a crook as Texas attorney general.
