In Dallas debate, Allred laments 'cynical politics' of Sessions, who casts him as a liberal newcomer
Pete Sessions and Colin Allred, the candidates for Dallas' 32nd Congressional District, showcased their differences Sunday on an array of issues in their final showdown before early voting begins.
Sessions, the incumbent Republican, wasted no time going after Allred for his support of President Barack Obama's 2015 deal with Iran to prevent the country from developing a nuclear weapon.
Sessions accused Allred of being pro-Iranian.
"One of the most critical issues that we have worked on is understanding the Iranian threat against not just Israel, but against freedom and the United States of America," Sessions told the crowd gathered at Temple Shalom in North Dallas. The temple co-sponsored the debate with the American Jewish Committee and the Jewish/Latino Alliance.
Sessions said Allred "was for the Iranians, the people who shout, 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel.' ... I stand on the side of keeping America, and Americans and our ally Israel, safe."
